9th Semester Initiative – Rate Exception (Last Semester Senior)

Note: please review the full policy in the most recent Policies Related to Tuition and Fees document on the Bursar’s Office website for the most up-to-date information.

If you’re just a few credits away from finishing your bachelor’s degree, the 9th Semester Initiative may help reduce your tuition costs while you cross the finish line.

How It Works

Undergraduates who are very close to completing their degree may be eligible to pay tuition at the College of Professional Studies rate for their final semester, rather than the full-time Main Campus rate.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Four-year programs
    • Must have completed eight full-time semesters (not including summer) on Main Campus
    • Have 11 or fewer credits remaining toward the degree
  • Five-year programs
    • Must have completed ten full-time semesters (not including summer) on Main Campus
    • Have 11 or fewer credits remaining toward the degree

The 9th Semester Initiative is limited to one semester, with no exceptions. Accelerated students (those completing their degree in fewer semesters through summer courses or heavier course loads) are not eligible.

Applying

  1. Review the full policy in the most recent Policies Related to Tuition and Fees document on the Bursar’s Office website.
  2. Confirm that you are eligible with your academic advisor.
  3. If eligible, submit a petition to faculty form to the dean of your home college.
